A possible speaker for the Conference is author, Lundy Bancroft who wrote the book, “The Batterer as a Parent.” In the event Mr. Bancroft is unable to present at this year’s conference other presenters are being lined up as a backup. The cost for attending this year’s conference will be slightly higher than last year to assist with conference expenses. Details of this year's presenter and cost will be forthcoming.

TOPIC DISCUSSION
Topic of discussion was on SVP continuum of services. The discussion was lively as program participants expressed the challenges of continuum of services such as implementing safe exchanges or implementing parent education due to funding restriction. Program participants discussed the prospect of a continuum of services to include less restricted environments before going to complete unsupervised visits. Program participants who provide safe exchanges and mandatory parent education for non-custodial parents provided information about these services. There was also discussion about the prospect of having family members supervise visits and or transfers and whether neutrality would be compromised. Program participants also discussed exploring utilizing students from Bachelors level social work schools and Human Services programs in providing services for programs that utilize volunteers.

PROGRAM UPDATES
YWCA Supervised Visitation Program in White Plains: Kathy Rooney announced that they are in the process of training family members on how to conduct safe exchanges.

New York Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NYSPCC)
Helen Woodbury announced that NYSPCC received funding from the Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) for the Fatherhood Initiative Program. The NYSPCC will provide educational, therapeutic and financial education services to non-custodial fathers over 24 years of age in New York City.

Helen Woodbury also announced that the NYSPCC received funding to publish a handbook on the NYSPCC- Positive Parenting Plus (PP+) program model in conducting supervised visits.
